SUMMARY: Top-ranked AM multinational law firm is seeking a talented business development Specialist to support the New York Litigation Team within the Marketing & Business Development Department. This position reports to both the Global Director and Business Development Director. The Business Development group operates alongside more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to business development, marketing and communications. The right candidate will liaise closely with litigators firmwide and the New York Business Development team to facilitate various projects and initiatives to drive the development of new business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consult with the New York partnership on the development and execution of meaningful strategic business development and marketing initiatives for the region

Gather data from various sources/databases to compile a variety of intelligence briefings, including (but not limited to): company/private equity firm profiles, relationship intelligence documents and biographical dossiers

Engage in comprehensive research of the Firm’s transactions across a wide breadth of industries, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources, including Bloomberg, The Deal Pipeline, CapIQ, Pitchbook, Deal Point Data, PrivateRaise, Preqin, ThomsonOne and others

Accurately capture and maintain comprehensive transaction deals in the Firm’s experience database

Create manuals and resource materials for the experience database, outlining best practices for researching and recording transactions as well as helping to develop definitions and taxonomies

Provide research, coordination and other logistical assistance in connection with the origination and execution of new business pitches and related client development meetings and activities

Refine and curate core materials related to specific industries, practice descriptions and representative experience

Research, develop, and manage on-point visibility opportunities, such as industry seminars and speaking/sponsorship opportunities to increase an individual or the group’s profile

Monitor alerts and news flow to support proactive team initiatives

Conduct competitive intelligence and benchmarking research within an industry or among peer firms

Assist with collecting NY-specific litigation case experience to record in case tracking database

Update data in the Firm’s marketing CRM database, including the review and creation of mailing lists

Review and consult with attorneys on new content, including matters and awards/rankings, and focus of their biographies

Work alongside the Events team to put together client events

Work with all functions of the greater Business Development & Marketing team, including Operations, Development, Systems, Communications, and Business Intelligence.
REQUIREMENTS:

3 to 4+ years of Business Development or marketing experience in a law firm, finance or investment banking environment. Exposure to Litigation Business Development or Litigation Marketing is highly desired.

Bachelor’s Degree

Deep knowledge of litigation and or Corporate Governance/M&A litigation and or Securities & Shareholder litigation.

Exceptional communication and listening skills, including an innate ability to communicate with stakeholders

Proven ability to organize and manage a diverse range of projects, prioritizing multiple tasks with competing deadlines (at times in high-pressure situations)

Strong project management abilities to lead and control large, complex pitches, proposals and RFPs

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

Proficiency with various research databases including, but not limited to Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg, Westlaw MonitorSuite, Lex Machina will cross-train on Firm's software.

Must be able to maintain, highly confidential M&A and or M&A litigation information that could affect markets. This information cannot be discussed with the public.
