Litigation Legal Assistant

 

LOCATION: Wilmington, Delaware (DE) (USA)

COMPENSATION: Base salary up to $72,000 plus well Paid Overtime, Performance-based Bonus; Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage; Paid Time Off; 401K; Life and AD&D Insurance; exceptional work environment and firm culture.  Noted for career growth, stability and security.  

HOURS: 9:30am – 5:30pm

THE ORGANIZATION: Major U.S. International Law Firm

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Able to handle advanced and complex projects

  • Able to organize and manage electronic and paper files

  • Able to ensure that all litigation/corporate files are maintained

  • Maintain the integrity of client files; Assist with document production, transaction and/or closings

  • Assist with the preparation and court filing of pleadings and other court papers, as needed.

  • Assist with retrieval of rules, regulations and company profiles

  • Assist with preparation for interviews, depositions, hearings, trials and/or client meetings

  • Proofread briefs, memoranda of law, opinions and other documents

  • Perform cross-reference and defined terms checks, as needed

  • Pull cases, shepardize briefs and assist with and coordinate cite-checking

  • Able to perform non-legal research using various research tools, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR and other systems

  • Update attorney and case/deal team binders

  • Able to assist partners, associates and other legal assistants across practice areas and different departments

  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others

  • Able to comply with and understand firm operations, policies and procedures 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • 2+ Years of experience in a legal assistant position or a position requiring similar expertise and experience

  • Knowledge of relevant computer software programs i.e., Microsoft Office, able to learn new programs

  • Able to navigate various electronic databases and document repositories

  • Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw,

  • Knowlege of LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR and other court-related websites and/or media and financial services

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills

  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work independently and within a team; Demonstrate a close attention to detail

  • Ability to assume responsibility for assigned projects and tasks and handle sensitive matters to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work; Ability to work well under pressure with multiple projects and shifting priorities

  • Flexibility to travel as required with the team

  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs with well-paid overtime.
